Disordered Eating...what is it?

According to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, disordered eating is "a range of irregular eating behaviors that may or may not warrant a diagnosis of a specific eating disorder." These eating behaviours may include:

  • Yo-yo dieting

  • Weight instability

  • Food anxiety

  • Meal skipping

  • Rigid food rules

  • Compulsive exercise

  • Guilt and shame with food

  • Loss of control when eating

These symptoms have a negative impact on an individual’s body image, health, well being and overall quality of life.
