According to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, disordered eating is "a range of irregular eating behaviors that may or may not warrant a diagnosis of a specific eating disorder." These eating behaviours may include:

Weight instability
Food anxiety
Meal skipping
Rigid food rules
Compulsive exercise
Guilt and shame with food
Loss of control when eating
These symptoms have a negative impact on an individual’s body image, health, well being and overall quality of life.
